BeautyCounter: Sunscreen for all

Here in California, almost everyday is a sunscreen day.  It is April now and it is starting to get warm.

This past weekend it was beautiful outside.  Mid 70’s and not a cloud in the sky.  Which normally I would love but it also means that there is full sun and sometimes it is hard to find shade.

We had activities to go to with hubby’s work…..off to Dolores Park in San Francisco and then Sunday was off to Dollar days at Golden Gate fields for a day of horse racing.  Great activities and honestly great for everyone in the family.  But that also means that we are outside and enjoying the amazing weather and exposed to all of the elements.  Not the worst thing but you have to be prepared!

So, what did I do…..

Before we left the 3yo helped me lather her up in BeautyCounter’s Protect All Over Sunscreen.  SPF 30 was perfect for everyone! The price of $32 for 4.8oz might seem steep for sunscreen but, I will say that the small amounts that you need to get full coverage is amazing and knowing that you are using safe products for everyone in the family is something that you cannot put a price on!  Trust me you will love this!

Created with the entire family in mind, this lightweight, water-resistant sunscreen is formulated with non-nano zinc oxide to blend seamlessly into skin without leaving white streaks, protecting you against both UVA and UVB rays. Aloe helps hydrate skin, while antioxidant-rich green tea and blood orange extracts fight free radicals.

We did reapply when we got there and again about 2 hours later.  My daughter and hubby are fair-skinned and my hubby burns easily and fast.  So he got the full treatment as well.

HOW TO USE

Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure.

When to reapply:
– After 40 minutes of swimming or sweating
– Immediately after towel drying
– At least every 2 hours.

Ingredients are always very important.  The last thing that I want to do is to expose my family to ingredients that are bad for them.  The sunscreen has a wonderful creamy texture to it and doesn’t feel greasy at all!  I also HATE the typical sunscreen smell and I can promise that this doesn’t have that at all.  No Slimy messes either!

The other product that I made sure I packed in the bag was Protect Stick Sunscreen (Face).  This little stick is great and doesn’t take up a lot of room.  I put this on under my makeup for the day and it did not leave a greasy feel or clog my pores at the end of the day.  My daughter also loved putting this on herself and on me all by her self (and if you have kids you know that this is a big deal!).

I can truly say that this is kid friendly and the protection is sheer.  No crazy white residue like some other brands leave and goes on smooth.  It also doesn’t smell like traditional sunscreen, which I love.  I HATE the smell of traditional sunscreen.

This  lip balm is so fantastic and I know that I am keeping my lips protected in this California weather.  With so much sun and now that we are out of our rainy season with a lot of beach time in our near future I cannot stress enough how important it is to keep your skin safe.

We also go skiing a lot, especially with Tahoe only a few hours away it makes for a lot of weekends spent there on the slopes.  The sun is just as unforgiving on the slopes as it is during the summer on the beach.  The only difference is that most people forget to protect their skin on the slopes!
